Larimar

Larimar is a rare blue pectolite found only in the Dominican Republic. Its stunning blue color, ranging from light sky blue to deep volcanic blue with white marbling, evokes the tranquil energies of the Caribbean sea and sky.

Larimar was rediscovered in 1974 by Miguel Méndez, who named it after his daughter Larissa and the Spanish word for sea (*mar*). The indigenous Taíno people believed it came from the sea. Edgar Cayce, the famous American mystic, predicted that a powerful blue stone would be found on a Caribbean island — many believe this refers to larimar.
